Ladies and Gentlemen, What we have to know is that Malawi is not a poor Country, But we have been Guided by poor leadership. In strict terms , Chikaonda and Bakili muluzi just Came to destroy the economy of Malawi. Thats why we have constant onset of hunger in Malawi. We used to have high food production in Malawi Since 1964. For those who are writing negatively about Chikaonda:
1- His ten point plan did not fail because of him, it was exactly what the country needed, others who made it fail.
In fact Goodall Gondwe implemented the same policies during Bingu’s first term.
2- He did not destroy the Press Corporation, he rescued it.
3- He did not rip of the country in any way.
4- When he was appointed Ministry of Finance we had no donor budget support. He got it back within halve a year.
5- When he was minister the Kwacha stabilised,
I am shocked to hear about Mathews Chikaonda’s death. May his soul rest in peace, May the lord be with Violet and his children. He was one of the most intelligent, often mis-understood, man I have ever known. People who disagree with that do not know what they are talking about, sorry. My mentor when I was his deputy. A great loss to our country for which he had exiting plans which he can now not implement.

I wish to differ with the former president Bakili Muluzi. He is praising Chikaonda for good economic advice, planning and management. I’m surprised because Muluzis presidency was the worst in terms of economy. He had very poor economic policies. If Chikaonda was part of Muluzis team, then he contributed nothing to the country but misery to the Malawian. RIP Mr Chikaonda, after working with Muluzi destroying the economy of Malawi. Chikaonda was not an economist and professor. He did business administration in the US and lectured for few years in Canada before coming to Malawi.

You are shallow minded and have no idea what you’re talking about. Chikaonda and Muluzi looted the government out of everything! The demise of Press Corporation, the selling of government houses in Lilongwe, it’s all because of Chikaonda and Muluzi. How could he afford to live in California which is the most expensive place in the US? He destroyed Malawi economically and left for California. There’s a good Lord up there! No matter what these thieves will do, one day they will face judgment.

I have and will have nothing positive to say about Muluzi or those who advised him. The famous “Ten Point Plan”. Fit it ever see the light of day? Then there was Vision Twenty Twenty. Muluzi and Chikaonda looted big time. That’s why Atupele does not hold any substance. Atupele should just give up politics and do what he was trained to be, is at all. Otherwise his dad damaged his future.
