Mzuzu – Nkhatabay road costs almost the same as Parliament – Bingu International Stadium road in Lilongwe. Despite the latter being a dual carriage road the tarrain through which the former passes is much more difficult for road construction. Now here is where it gets interesting. The funders of Nkhatabay road are paying the contractor directly. No chance for inflation of prices to pocket the difference. The Parliament – Bingu International Stadium road is being funded by goverment. In analytical analysis such big differences could be red flags for some shady deals.
