Your Excellency Prof Peter Mutharika, you shouldn’t be professing that Malawi will guarantee safety to foreign investors, when you know pretty well that even Malawians aren’t safe in their own country. The Malawi press has been reporting about albino killings (with bishops joining in the fray) and people in the villages continue killing each; crime in urban and pre-urban areas has escalated to uncontrollable levels. There are no signs that the government is serious about dealing with crime other than the political rhetoric at rallies. Have you compensated those who were killed by your citizens who were suspected as blood suckers? So you think
someone should come all the way from western to invest in Malawi in Mining and to be hunted by your citizens as a money and killed .If you fail to do something to your killed citizens, you think you can care of strangers?
This is what I have always said about Malawi’s efforts in wooing foreign investors, which President Ramaphosa has eloquently captured . He said, for trade to excel in the continent and to attract investment for that matter, Africa heads of state efforts “need to be accompanied by the development of the infrastructure that is going to carry these goods and generate the power that is going to enable their production. It needs to be accompanied by investments in universities, schools, hospitals and clinics, communication technology and water articulation”.
