Whilst I totally agree that this castigating and vilifying of fellow Malawians must stop forthwith; we must remember, Mr president that you participated and condoned this unbecoming behaviour when your own party leaders were castigating and vilifying the opposition leaders. It became very personal at times and embarrassingly so. It is now become a culture these days that for the electorate to get charged to chant, the speaker must speak ill of the opposition leaders. I would encourage you to hold a meeting with your own DPP leaders to stop the behaviour and just focus on what they would deliver… Read more »

If UTM is promoting and advancing the agenda of removing quota system then surely it will be the party of the North just like AFORD was. But it will end there, in the North, bcoz Central and Southern region still support quota system they want to do away with the Mzuzu corner syndrome. In short UTM will win in the North, but will lose miserably in both Central and Southern region. I rest my case.

So you mean quota system is good to your opinion where you select someone to go to university with 24 points because he is from Southern then you leave someone with 15 points because he is from North?Does it mean Northerners have got different subjects from the other two regions?Regardless of who takes over but this quota system must come to an end.

Bwana President threats are a sign of wekness. Compete on your political agenda. Let others also bring out theirs. No threats. If you feel uncomfortable being insulted then what was that nonsense you were talking against Callista. Was that not an insult to Callusta. She alsso deserves better. Then what was that rubbish about “ndikunyenyanyenyani”. And Mchacha insulted Kaliasti in your presence but you said nothing to reprimand Mchascha You mean you are allowed to insult the opposition but the opposition should not insult you? What nonsense is that? We are no longer in one party state for goodness sake..… Read more »

The president says that he will invoke S4 of the Protected Names Act. I believe that this legislation from 1968 reads as follows: “Any person who does any act or utters any words or publishes or utters any writing calculated to or liable to insult ridicule or to show disrespect to or with reference to the President, the National Flag, the Armorial Ensigns, the Public Seal, or any protected emblem or protected likeness, shall be liable to a fine of £1,000 and to imprisonment for two years.” Source: http://crm.misa.org/upload/web/17-LAWS%20OF%20MALAWI%20PROTECTED%20FLAG%20EMBLEMS%20AND%20NAMES.pdf I would like to see those who are alleged to be… Read more »
