Unfortunately Ngwira’s proposal is another side of the same coin. He argues that development activities are concentrated in the south because Presidents come from that region. In his wisdom, a president from the north will priotise his development activities in the north. Is this a solution or creation of another problem? I am of the view that Nzomera Ngwira is equally selfish and his proposal is non starter.
Since quarter system started is the North still leading in public universities graduates? Mathematically, I doubt. The tables were turned up side already and it will be felt in few years to come. This is what worries Mzomera and co. Quarter system will not go. It came to stay. For us southerners we will fight to save QS until mathematically our public university graduates grossly out number those of the North. Few decades from Now we will start reaping the fruits of QS in public and NGO sectors. We are already leading in private sector.
The way I see it, Malawians would NEVER accept it; SORRY.
It’s a shame because the North has some of the most educated men and women the country has ever produced. Enormous talent which is, unfortunately, betrayed by persistent allegations of high grade Tribalism/Nepotism.
The issue being raised by Hon Reverend Mzomera Ngwira is very interested. While it is true that minorities in general have limited opportunities in society, it is not true that his proposal can work There are several challenges to his proposal: First the proposal has to be adopted by the Members of Parliament not only those from North Malawi but the other regions too. Do the other regions feel it that way? or can Hon Mzomera manage to convince them to see his point? Second it will be difficult to describe someone as a northerner, centraler and southerner. Will it… Read more »
That is a non starter mr Ngwira..a national president is supposed to be voted by the majority of the people..if Malawi has voted a Yao before..a chewa before..a Hlomwe why not a Tumbuka? Wil shall vote for a Tumbuka mukachita bwino..chakufwa Chihana almost became Malawi president. The problem was that he conspicuously protrayed his tribalistic mind by pickin interim office bearers from the North..if Tumbukas can only stop this behaviour Of kuphangira and kudzikonda Malawians wil definitely vote for a Tumbuka.
Malawi Ndi Dziko Laling’ono Sizingatheke Kukhala Ndi Ma President Atatu.Inu Amzozomera Dikirani 2019 Muzaime Nawo.Sizankutuzo Ndinu Ozikonda Mukanena Kuti Kodi Ku North Kuti Kutukuke Amalawi Titani.U President Amasakha Ndi Mulungu Ok.
The rotation of presidency does not reflect the capabilities. we need capable leaders
