Ngoni chief Gomani has threatened to fire non performing advisors locally known as impis.

Chief Gomani said this in Lizulu, Ncheu during new year celebrations.

He said the chiftaincy will soon establish standard by-laws to set standards for the performance of the impis.

The youthful chief says there was need to spell out clearly on how to fight corruption amongst his subjects.

The chief also bemoaned early marriages in his territory.

“Our boys and girls should marry when they are 21 not 18 as provided in the Republican laws. We want to ensure that all those getting into marriage are mature and have completed their education,” said the chief who himself attained his academic qualification from Kamuzu Academy, the elite high school dubbed the Elton of Africa established by former head of state Kamuzu Banda.

The chief has more than two dozen impis who constantly give him advice on how to run the quasi kingdom in a republic.

Key impis include vice president Saulos Chilima, Times Group managing director and respected long serving accountant Leonard Chikadya and politician Sam Mpasu.

Be fair and don’t persecute those who opposed you. No excuse for that, don’t disguise this to take revenge on others you don’t like.

The problem with Malawi Ngonis is that they adopted the languages of their subjects rather than the other way round. Shame on them. The ntcheu Ngonis even changed from patrilinial to matrilinial. Even more Shame on them.

You only fire somebody who is employed. Impis do their duties voluntarily and you can only recuse them not firing.

Does this tribe still exist? People who can’t even speak their mother language, which is zulu. People who lose their language don’t have a heritage. Culture is preserved in a language.

Mr Khamula, the grammar school, Kamuzu Academy, is nicknamed the ETON of Africa & not the Elton, if anything, one of the famous Eltons is sir Elton John a British pop singer.
