The real question is: After the two or three years life span of these vehicle, and once we start looking at servicing them where are going to get the spare parts? Definitely it will be to the east (China); are they also going to donate these? My answer is – highly unlikely. This is a Chinese investment strategy (believe me) that says we donate a couple of vehicles to Malawi now with a short life span and two or three years down the line they will come knocking on our doors for spares parts. As a country are we serious with relationship with foreign countries. I couldn’t believe my eyes when l saw one of the vehicles in town donated by Chinese government. Are the vehicles suitable for Police use in Malawi environment? A Malawi malandiralandira. To be honest these vehicles will only last for less than 3 years. Mark my words…

Which is better, having these vehicles or not having them at all? Ask the men and women in police who struggle everyday with transport problems if this donation is not important. Are you telling me that minibuses cannot be used in the police department? That pickups cannot be used in the police department? That saloon are not usable in the police? That wagons are useless in the police? Amalawi kodi tinakhala bwanji? Mphatso umasankha?
