Was Getrude speaking as the first lady or a government employee? What is the significance of using a podium with a government logo? Michel Obama and other first ladies in the world address gatherings, but do not use a podium with government logo. We are misplacing the role of a first lady kapena kuchulutsa maulemu dala. That podium is only for the President and his Vice, not their wives when Ministers are not accorded such respect. So just looking at the design of the cloth these women are wearing one can conclude that this Women’s World Day of Prayer is a commemoration for Christian women only and not for Muslims as well.

Who is that insensitive person who designed this cloth which depicts a cross as its emblem?

Matoga, you are right this is essentially an ecumenical (interdenominational) Christian women movement that started as early as 1861 in the United States and Canada and now it is observed in 170 countries of the world and has been adopted by UN as an important forum to bring women together and celebrate the role that women are playing in various fields: gender, politics, law, religion, etc. You may have heard that our own Emma Kaliya will be receiving an international award next week in New York.
