Very Interesting article. The analyst is saying the truth. North is the swinging region as it doesn’t have powerful party or leader to follow since 1994 when Chihana led Aford. Those who are disputing this are ignorant in politics. Even DPP cannot win without including northern votes.
The north did not vote for Bingu because of the tribe of his running mate. What they saw was the work he did in his first term. They wanted a continuation of that. In case you did not know, most northerners have family residing in the south and center who saw these developments first hand (most of the structural edifices that Bingu built are in the south and center)

My survey in the north has shown that many people will vote for Chilima. The issue of running-mate is not an issue at all. MCP may have a chance to win in Mzuzu Central but the north has over 90% followers of Chilima. That is the bare painful truth! Hate it at your own peril
