There are only two tribes in Malawi. One is a very large tribe. The other is very small. The small one dominates the large one by the time-honoured strategy of divide-and-rule. The small tribe is called ‘the Rich’, and the large tribe is called ‘the Poor’. The Poor are encouraged to identify themselves as aChewa, aLhomwe, aNgoni, etc., and to place the importance of cultural identification and tradition above group socio-economic advancement and unity of purpose. Many thanks Allan. I really enjoyed your column. Your well articulated messages, have been so inspirational. Your desire to bring the much needed change in Malawi through your writtings, was taken by zeal and bravity. To call it a last piece, this one is indeed another talent and a message worth meditating. Wish you the very best Allan……
SCK will miss your praise singing
Fare thee well Allan. I liked your articles, they were matured and even this very last shows how a genius you are. I hope your new column will be on Nyasa Times again. Nice parting shot Allan. Sad that you have to leave . Surely as Malawians we truly enjoyed your company. The journey was worth every step that we made together to this far. Wishing you the very best in life buddy.
Well written. There is sense in this what others may consider nosense. I will truly miss this column
YOU are a good writer Allan despite being biased. A columnist and a Judge are almost the same they need not take sides for them to be relevant. My only biggest problems with you is that you demonstrated hatred at the expense of professionalism. The much sang problems about Malawi cannot be solved with hate speeches let alone loose mouths. Revisit your writing prowess and add values of statesmanship and patriotism for you to be a true agent of change as you claim to be. Practice what you preach Allan. Were you not at one point in time an advisor… Read more »
