Nyasa Bullets want Ndawa as head coach

Nyasa Big Bullets have set their sights on former Mighty Be Forward Wanderers tactician Franco Ndawa as their next head coach.

The Super League champions are on the look out for a new coach   after Mabvuto Lungu has been stripped of his coaching title because he does not hold a CAF B licence which the Football Association of Malawi (FAM)—under the Club Licencing System (CLS)—is enforcing as a minimum qualification for all Super League coaches.

Bullets executive shortlisted three names to replace Lungu who included Ndawa, former Malawi national coach Kinnah Phiri and their former coach Nswazirimo Ramadan.

Phiri has landed a coaching job at Mbeya Council in Tanzania and Ramadhan is assistant national team coach. Ndawa is the only option available and the club has approached him.

Ndawa who has also coached Red Lions, Azam Tigers and Silver Strikers, confirmed to have been in discussion with Bullets and believes he can “do better” at Bullets.

“Yes Bullets are talking to me on the coaching job but I cannot say much now because we are still discussing,” Ndawa told Nyasa Times.

The former midfielder for Red Lions said he first played for Bullets in 1982 in the Premier Division.

Ndawa has established himself as one of the best local coaches.

The club licencing requirement, which comes into force next season, has already seen some teams recruiting coaches with recommended qualifications. Civo United have appointed Milias Pofera Jegwe, Dwangwa United have employed McDonald Mtetemera, Max Bullets have roped in Leo Mpulula while Stereo Gondwe has joined Chilumba Barracks.

Surprisingly, all the three coaches that won silverware last season— Mabvuto Lungu (Super League championship), Elia Kananji (Carlsberg Cup with Be Forward Wanderers) and Oscar Kaunda (Standard Bank Knockout Cup with Civo United)—did not have the required minimum qualification.

Sam Chilunga, Bullets is not a team to play with. It is the biggest team on the land. Ndawa has failed at Wanderers and Silver, so do you think he can do better at Bullets. Take note that Bullets is not your personal Estate where you can post Captaos anyhow. Stop this mediocrity.
