It must start with you Dulani. You must produce a report for your kids to know how you have used your funds for accountability. You are saying we must not be accountable to the one who gave us the resources but the beneficiary – your benefeciaries are you kids, wife, aunts etc They need to know how you have used the resources you have mobilised for them. If the government of Malawi does not explain to Malawians through Parliament what they have used resources for before the next budget, what is an NGO that does not use tax-payers money –… Read more »

Boniface is very right. There is a huge chunk of funding that is being channelled to the CSOs but mostly unaccounted for. What you don’t understand here is what exactly is meant by accountability. while politics may be at play between government and CSOs, you should appreciate that NGOs are not ultra vires…i.e above the law. it does not matter whether their funding is from the government purse. the fact that that money is channelled to Malawi by donors for Malawians hence Malawians through government deserve an explanation Mr. Tinkler.
