Most men have more than two wives . Nkula has been open here. But the challenge is will be have time for God?
Day and night he will be busy trying to satisfy both women.

Malawi will remain poor because of this backward mentality. How can anyone support a culture that subordinates and oppresses women? Polygamy is simply outdated!

Who outdated polygamy? How many unofficial polygamous men do we have in Malawi? What is better? coming in the open or hiding like you have one wife and having concubines? Polygamy is legal by Islamic standards.

How stupid and backward! Polygamy in the 21st century? That’s why Africa remains poor and all the countries which have polygamy are either poor, dictatorial or violent because of patriarchy. In the Middle East offsprings of polygamy are terrorist.

If you do not have facts keep your mouth shut. Malawi is among the poorest nations. is it because of polygamy? the middle east is very rich yet there are more polygamous marriages. About terrorism you are a novice don’t even start talking about it. In the USA a man shot dead 59 people and injured 500 plus others. he was not called a terrorist simply because he was not a Muslim. Want to live a little longer? Get a second wife. New research suggests that men from polygamous cultures outlive those from monogamous ones. After accounting for socioeconomic differences, men aged over 60 from 140 countries that practice polygamy to varying degrees lived on average 12% longer than men from 49 mostly monogamous nations, says (Virpi Lummaa), an ecologist at the University of Sheffield, UK. Lummaa presented her findings last week at the International Society for Behavioral Ecology’s annual meeting in Ithaca, New York. Rather than a call to polygamy, the research might solve a long-standing puzzle in human biology: Why… Read more »

Following with keen interest. Polygamous chief and the wives are happy? Poti kuli chahala cha mafumu. They are getting paid every month using the taxpayers money, so financial problems are not there. Malawians will be paying the couple a handsome package for being a chief.

It is true that a new research has suggested that men from polygamous cultures outlive those from monogamous ones. The research may have been conducted in 2008 and those are the conclusions. Sadly, no full report of the research design and method is available. It seems that what is available is just a conclusion purporting to suggest polygamous cultures outlive those from monogamous ones. What was the theoretical framework of the design? Did it really ensure validity of the results? What were the variables? A perusal of the electronic Times of India.com which could be the source of your post,… Read more »
