Poor performance for Malawi’s bowls team in Namibia
Malawi bowls team started on a bad note after losing to hosts Namibia in the African States Bowls Tournament on Monday.
The Namibian men’s bowls team used their home ground advantage to the fullest when they won their first rounds against Malawi in the Trips and Pairs disciplines of the African States Bowls Tournament.
According to an online publication Namibiasport.com the hosts team showed great skill to thrash their Malawi 26-8.
Malawi also lost to Zimbabwe 31-9 on their second game and in trips and 23-9 in pairs categories.
In other Trips matches on Monday morning, Zimbabwe beat Botswana 22-13 while Kenya beat Zambia 18-14.
Jean Viljoen and Willem Esterhuizen teamed up against Malawi in the Pairs division. Like their colleagues, the two Namibians displayed splendid form to comfortably win the event 35-7.
In other Pairs matches, Kenya beat Zambia 19-14, while Botswana held Zimbabwe to a 12-12 draw.
Malawi comprises Henry Mereka, Laurie Arthur, Sushi Khamisa Sandhu and Bashir Sharrif.
