PP admits elections loss costly: Matola tells Joy Radio party rebuilding

The opposition Peoples Party (PP) has admitted to have lost some of its members after losing power in the last year’s Tripartite Elections.

Matola: PP rebuilding
Matola: PP rebuilding

PP led by its leader, former President, Joyce Banda came third in the elections won by Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

PP Secretary General, Ibrahim Matola revealed to Joy Radio many of the party’s members dumped the political grouping after it failed to win the May elections.

”We have been in all regions, it’s clear we have some of our members. But as a party we have to remain positive and focus on the future,” said Matola.

Matola said they were currently  on the course of rebuilding the party in readiness for 2019 elections.

”Our tour across the county is to assess the party’s strength and weakeness. We need to restructure the party to ensure it is united and strong again,” added Matola.

He then disclosed that the party was planning to hold rally soon to be graced by its provincial vice-presidents.

Matola refused to comment on when the party’s president, Joyce Banda will be coming back to Malawi but hailed the former Head of State on her charity projects to benefit the country’s flood victims.
