PP rebel Mzomera Ngwira walks free as opposition demand his arrest
Peoples Party (PP) former regional governor for the north Christopher Mzomera Ngwira is walking free despite repeated calls from the opposition to have him arrested in connection with the political rally fracas in Mzuzu.
PP vice president Kamlepo Kalua and Malawi Congress Party (MCP) publicist Jessie Kabwila all pointed fingers at Ngwira for the bloody violence that left four people critically injured.
“Everyone knows this was the work of Christopher Ngwira. Actually he has been boasting that he cannot be arrested,” said Kalua in recent interviews.
At least five people have been arrested by police in connection with the violence by panga wielding thugs.
Kabwila said it was a fact that Ngwira was sponsored by the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) to organise the violence.
However the DPP publicist Francis Kasaira has dismissed the claims as untrue.
Police say they will effect arrests professionally after thorough investigations.
The MCP, PP joint rally violence has since been condemned strongly by civil society groups including the powerful Law Society of Malawi and church leaders as unnecessary in democratic Malawi.
Ngwira says he did not have a hand in the fracas but had forewarned MP Harry Mkandawire that panga wielding thugs will disrupt the rally.

Kalua is still shooting his mouth off acting like he is omniscient.1st he accused Jappie Mhango,now he has changed his tune and is accusing Ngwira.
Dont get me wrong,everyone knows those guys are thugs.But Kalua needs to CHECK HIS FACTS before making another statement,otherwise it can cause more harm than good to Malawians.The same goes for Kabwira.
