Overzealousness. These new recruits. . don’t be surprised if the person who fired the teargas did not get chocked in the process. Training is very essential. Its sad that innocent lives were lost in the process

In any civilized society, like Malawi, the police ought to take responsibility for the deaths that happened. The Minister of Home Affairs, as the top political head ought to resign together with the Inspector General of Police and the Commissioner of Police for Central Region. The whole reason the government spends money for the training of police cadates where the same spend six months at Mtakataka is for them to learn all the skills they need to enable them control crowds. When people are in trouble, their first point of call should be the Police where they will face safe… Read more »

The deaths and injuries were really avoidable. The people responsible for the event should have created some scenarios in such a case. That is, what would happen in such a case where everyone is granted free entry. Would opening the gates in good time to allow entry ensure the population has access to the facility. In addition, what would be the experience if we let the crowd gather at the gates of the facility therefore, leaving them guessing whether they will have a chance to enter the facility. Piko,

That is why these things happen, Malawians always think they have rights, but no responsibilities.

Rights without responsibility, is anarchy.

It is not just the fault of Police, too many thugs in Malawi who have nothing better to do but cause problems for others.

In some countries queuing is a must, you queue orderly everywhere, (bus, shop stadium etc)

In Malawi if you ask people to queue they think you are stupid. Mapeto ake ndiamenewo.

Its sad that amafa ndi ana.
