Prophet Bushiri woos thousands at unannounced mountain prayer in Mzuzu

Prophet Shepherd Bushiri returned to his home city of Mzuzu, Malawi, this week and held a prayer service on Wednesday at Kaning’ina Mountain which, though unannounced, attracted thousands.

Kaning’ina Mountains happens to be place where Prophet Bushiri used to go and pray when he was in secondary school and also where he began his church with six people.

The South Africa based preacher could not hide his shock when he saw thousands already gathered, and thousands more trekking in, when the details of the service was only communicated to few church members.

However, being his home city, the Prophet was all smiles, saying the gesture represents a grand welcome by his people.

The return to the mountain was phenomenal to the Prophet who, in his speech, testified to God’s glory and favour for his church and ministry has spread to every corner of the world’s six continents boasting not less than 4 million registered members.

Asked why he thought of returning to the mountains that started the giant Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) movement, Prophet Bushiri’s communications director Ephraim Nyondo told Nyasa Times  that the gesture was only part of the larger Outreach Programmes which the Prophet launched three months ago.

“As you are aware, the Prophet understands the hunger for the gospel that is out there and also the yearn for him as an instrument of God.

“The Prophet also understands that no everybody can manage to congregate at ECG headquarters in Pretoria due to different logistical challenges.

“The idea behind these outreach programmes is to get the gospel to where people are. Some outreaches are targeted; while some targets everybody in the public,” he said.

He added that though the Mzuzu service was meant for few church members, the turn out, automatically, moved the Prophet to hold a mass service and, interestingly, it was great.
