The  ministry says  in a statement that it has received a report from the Department of Disaster Management that the northern region especially Karonga District is expected to receive rains for five consecutive days.

This, according to the statement signed by Sadram Maweru, Director of Irrigation and Water Development in the ministry, is likely to cause rivers such as Songwe, North Rukuru and Lufilya to flood causing a lot of damages to people and their properties.

“We would like to appeal to people along these rivers to be alert especially at night and if possible to vacate to uplands for fear of loss of life and properties, “lead part of the statement.

Contrary to other parts of the country, the northern region has received more than excessive rains that have seen some people losing their lives while others homeless.

Meanwhile government is on the ground in trying to assist those affected by the calamity.

What do the major prophets 1s say? Last year floods were in the South, Southerners were ridicled. And this year the North has its quota. We southerners are sympathetic to the Yankees.

So the chickens, mats and other stuff have been separated from owners and become free for all? – resource redistribution, right? So some rice farmers were heard smiling and ululating at the thought of more rice due to the flooding, right; yet the floods have potential to kill them? Mhh, a farmer’s, is strange mind! What good will less or more rice bags do a dead farmer? Are there rich or poor farmers in the grave? Or you are less dead with… Read more »
