Rwandan envoy in Malawi over genocide suspect repatriation

A high level Rwandan government delegation was in Malawi to find out the progress of efforts to repatriate a genocide suspect Vincen Murekezi.

Rwandan fugitive and genocide convict Vincent Murekezi leaves the court after his case was adjourned: Face corruption trial in Malawi before extradition

Malawi’s Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation spokesperson Rejoice Chaponda confirmed the Zambia based Rwandan Ambassodor to Malawi and his delegation has met Malawian government officials led by Foreign Affairs Minister Francis Kasaila.

“The envoy, Mr Abel Pahunga has thanked the Malawi government on its efforts to repatriate the genocide suspect,” said Shumba.

The police arrested the genocide suspect Vincent Murekezi after pressure from some concerned Malawians.

Murekezi fled Rwanda after he was named as suspect in the 1994 genocide and managed to get Malawian citizenship and Maawian passports.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Kutsaira assured Pahunga that Murekezi would be deported back to Rwanda after his court case is over.

Murekezi is blocking his deportation at the Lilongwe magistrate court.

In addition, the state also wants him to answer corruption case before he is deported.

Pahunga is said to have called on the Malawi government to ensure justice in the case so that Murekezi goes back to Rwanda to answer the genocide case.

He also officially Katsaira that Malawi will now be dealing with Rwanda through the Zambia embassy not the Dar es Salaam embassy as was the case before.

All these years, when has Malawian government realised that Murekezi has a corruption case to answer? Probation should not be done to Murekezi (protected criminal) only, but also those behind the scene e.g the immigration departiment.

I am wondering, the issue is in court and these two ministers are discussing it as if they are both above the law, please let’s not interfere with the judicially.
This is Malawi Mr ambassador of Rwanda, if it were Rwanda then HE Peter Mutharika could not have emerged a president because the former president wanted him in prison but our free judiciary could not allow that, Mr Rwanda your wish can NOT force our court to favor you.
Bring evidence full stop, Kasaila please allow the law to take its course and avoid to comment on court issues.
Thanks

Foolish man simply because the case is in court does not mean the ambassador cannot come to Malawi. Murekezi is a criminal who must be punished at any cost. Some of you are either Rwandese who are also suspects or foolish Malawians who benefit from this imbecile.

Kikolo,
I think you don’t respect our judicial process, I wonder why you believe so much the Rwandese government report instead of believing the UN which has already cleared Mr Murekezi, this is Africa and African leaders most of them are dictators, you will understand one day when they catch you for no reason, ukawafunse people like Kanyama Chiume, Chakufwas and Kamlepos and chipepheres will tell you how wicked African leaders can be like Rwandas leaders, do please leave the court to see the justice done here or send him to the international court.
