The contestants for the finals are Mafilika Band keyboardist Mjura Mkandawire, Lilongwe resident Tiyamike Chakhaza, Grey Longwe and Vitumbiko Phiri from Blantyre.

The winner of the K14 million national grand prize tomorrow will travel to Kenya to compete with other winners drawn from 13 African countries at an event which will be graced by American hip hop star Akon.

One of the finalist, former Malawi representative in the Big Brother Africa hotshot, Sipe announced that she has pulled out on “personal reasons.”

However, Airtel and Trace could not confirm the pulling out one of Sipe, saying they have not received any official communication from the model and singer.

“We are also just hearing the story in the media, otherwise all what we know is that Sipe is coming. We cannot only comment if she will write to us,” said Trace Country Coordinator Annie Chisala

Meanwhile, Airtel Malawi and Trace TV announced that former Big Brother representatives Mr 265 and Fatima Nkata will host the finale.

Airtel brands and communications manager Isabel Kachinjika told reporters that attendance to the show will strictly be by invitation as the finale will be recorded.

“The schedule is tight and time conscious. The finals will take place at Mount Soche Hotel and we expect those invited to be seated by 6:30pm,” she said.

Meanwhile, Airtel has disclosed that the number of public votes for the finalists has doubled, with over 4 000 entrants recorded so far.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Mr splash would at lat be entertaining!
Fatima and 265 are far better MCs though.
Compare Fatima and her co-host’s hosting of the civil service reforms agenda launch to Timpuza and his co-host’s mess at the dinner that evening!
Its the x factor, either you have it or you dont! mr 265 and Fatima have it.
As for Sipe, Malawian or not, you are throwing away a golden opportunity.
