Silver, Wanderers say no Bullets advance over players
Silver Strikers and Be Forward Wanderers have put their foot their down that Bullets will not succeed in their pursuit to recruit players from both teams.
Bullets disclosed that they wanted to recruit Silver’s Lucky Malata, Chawangwa Kawonga, Wanderers goalkeeper Richard Chipuwa and defender Francis Mulimbika and striker Gastin Simkonda from Moyale Barracks.
Silver Strikers Chairman McDonald Mafuta Mwale said that captain Lucky Malata and youngster Chawanangwa Kawonga would not leave the Reserve Bank side for a local team.
Mwale said the 2013 TNM Super Champions would do everything possible not to lose their players to a competition such as Bullets.
“What we are saying is that there’s no way Silver can let the captain to and Chawanangwa to go. What Bullets are doing is to offer the players a bargaining power because if they will be offered K500,000 we will give them K1 million signing on fee,” Mafuta Mwale said.
He also disclosed that so far Chawangwa has got two offers on the table from South Africa’s top league side Maritzburg and undisclosed Mozambican club.
In a related development Wanderers General Secretary Mike Butao has also warned Bullets that the teams’ advances on the Nomads players were recipe for disaster.
Butao said Bullets could not just get players who are contracted to other clubs.
“Bullets should not think that because they are joining CAF all clubs would be willing to release the players. This is unfair and it can cause chaos among fans of both camps,” Butao said.
Meanwhile Bullets Chairperson Kondie has since said the team would not intrude the Nomads and Silver’s territory in search of players.
Msungama admitted that the team’s public announcement that it would like to engage the said players was unfortunate.
“We will no longer attempt to sign the players because we have realised that it could cause problems particularly with our rivals Be Forward Wanderers,” Msungama said.
The development comes barely with hours before the transfer of players deadline slated for December 31.
