A friend has just informed me that sugar started being exported in 1966 and that it contributed to export earnings increase of 65%. Further, it generated a positive Balance of Payments (BOP) which improved up to 1972 or there about, and that it resulted into total value of exports exceeding the total value of imports. What is the current export earnings of sugar and its impact on the economy now?
