Teenage son arrested for mother’s murder in Ndirande
A 19-year old, Maganizo Mtambo has been thrown behind bars for killing his mother in Ndirande Township, police have confirmed.
Maganizo was arrested by Ndirande Police Sub-station last week Friday (March 15, 2013) after being on the run for assaulting his biological mother, Erico Mabuka Mtambo 57, who later on died at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) on March 01, 2013 whilst receiving medical treatment.
According to Blantyre Police assistant Public Relations Officer, Lameck Thembachako, Maganizo Mtambo who hails from Kameza village, T/A Machinjiri in Blantyre committed the crime on February 22 this year.
“On February 22, 2013 around 17:30hours, the two (Maganizo and his mother) had quarrels and in the end he assaulted her severely, and fainted on the same spot. He escaped before was arrested last week. She was rushed to QECH where she died in the morning hours of March 01, 2013,” Thembachako explained.
Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital post-mortem and examination results show that Mrs. Erico Mabuka Mtambo died due to severe head and spinal injuries.
