Mr whoever you are, you should be aware that concepts and terms can take new meanings in society. While, as you put it, the oath has significant religious connotation its meaning in modern terms has become more symbolic of public promise making. Where the bible or the Quran is involved, it reflects the context in which the oaths are made-whether Christian or Islamic. And I think therefore is no compulsion to have these holy book if you do not subscribe to any of them.
