Tigresses beat MTL Queens in OG Issa League

Tigresses emerged serious challengers of Diamonds in the OG Issa Southern Region Netball League as they defeated MTL Queens 42-25 in an entertaining match at Blantyre Youth Centre on Sunday morning.

The match was abandoned on Saturday in the 18th minute when the two teams were tied 12 baskets each after a water logged court yard following rains in the commercial city of Malawi.

Back to Sunday’s encounter, both teams maintained their Saturday’s squads only that Tigresses were more determined than MTL Queens as they pressed hard from the word go.

Tigresses were too strong on the centre where Beatrice Mpinganjira and Cathy Yikwanga enjoyed ball possession feeding Sindi ‘Sniper’ Simutowe and Ellen Chibokho to do the final damage.

However, the main problem with MTL Queens was lack of composure as they lost too many balls especially through their centre Pililani Msukwa and Martha Dambo.

In defence, Joana Kachilika tried her best to tame Simutowe but she could not handle the pressuare.

MTL Queens goal shooter evergreen Sheratt Kaiche was totally out marked by Lauren Ngwira and Grace Mwafulirwa there by leaving Emily Jere with a lot of work to do.

In the third and last quarter, Tigresses were unstoppable as MTL Queens looked to have lost fuel in their tanks until the last whistle.
