The comparison between last year and this year is flawed.

It does not show an improvement it shows a deteriaration of 31% this year is worse than last year.

This is the problem, we tell people untruths and they comment based on these half baked analyses.

Half way through the sales are lower than last year.

If we had 174,000kg last year the sales would have been 117 Billion we only have 90 billion that is not better its worse.

I think it’s probably a misleading ‘half-truth’. People asked also on the previous news of ‘great tobocco sales’ The explanation is left incomplete.. ‘impressive’ for whom? The market is ‘great’ and ‘booming’ for whom? No doubt it is, mostly for the mostly (foreign-owned) tobacco companies, and their relatively few, middle-management Malawian employees. The tobacco companies get to buy plenty of tobacco, at very, very cheap prices for the international market. They are laughing all the way to the bank! But how ‘impressive’ is this tobacco season for the average Malawian tobacco farmer? Fertiliser and all other input costs gone up.… Read more »
