Mtete, it is very wrong to put all blame and call Kasungu, Dedza and Salima people idiots!! If you have been following the findings of the snapshot survey on the same, one of the key reasons why very few people did register in the areas under discussion was that registration equipment broke down and or most of them were not functional. As such, the registration staff were merely working for an hour or two. In that regard people were told to go home for the staff to send the equipment back to MEC for maintenace. I heard two or three people in Kasungu (or is it Salima?)and Dedza telling us why they did not register as voters saying they are not happy with current leaders, even the president. Elsewhere some people would jump at the opportunity to register and ensure development conscious people are elected instead. It appears Civic Education failed here. DPP will win the elections next year having amassed 1 Milion votes only. They will rule with impunity and looting will be the orrderfor the day. Shop will have no stock of basic foodstuffs, there will be hunger never experienced in Malawi, the legal system will have completely been broken down and with it safety of ordinary people as there won’t be any respect for rule of law.
