In 2014, Develius Zaipa also lost in the MCP primaries…. He stood as an independent candidate and to be an MP for the area… He chose to rejoin MCP in parliament. What an overture! Those who know the constituency better say this will happen again… Apparently, he has been a long standing “people’s man” in the constituency… The one who has won primaries is in for a huge task to win if Mr Zaipa decides to stand as an independent again…

It’s good development that even old guards are losing primaries. It is good for democracy. However, the party must make sure that it does not sideline the losers. It should be with them and make them understand how important and how a win-win situation it is for the party to win elections next year.
