Wanderers in 2nd round first win: Malawi TNM Super League

Mighty Be Forward Wanderers put up a fighting spirit to taste their first victory in the second round of the TNM Super League.

Wanderers threw everything into the game as they had to come from behind to conquer soldiers who were marching to to close in on leaders Bullets FC.

This was the Nomads first win in the second round of the 2015/2016 season and a relief to its supporters after failing to win the Standard Bank Knockout Cup last week by losing 1-0 to Civo United.

In Saturdays match, Mafco gave their supporters false hopes as they took the lead midway into the first half through Calisto Kalinda.

Mafco gave the Nomads tough time almost the whole first half despite playing with one man down after Richard Mbulu was sent off.

Callisto Kalinda scored for Mafco but Sparrow Msowoya who has notched important goals for the Lali Lubani Boys equalized.

Ibrahim Sadick hit the soldiers where it pained most by scoring the all important goal to rescue the Nomads from another disappointing result as the game was heading towards an end.

Beleaguered Wanderers coach Eliah Kananji breathed a sigh of relief, saying he applauded his charges for dying a little for the cause of the club.

“I would like to thank the players for scoring such important goals. This is probably the first time that we have scored at least two goals in as many games this season,” Kananji said.

“I advised the players to keep on pushing despite trailing by a goal at one time.”

He said such a fighting spirit was important was important if they are to meet their target of finishing in the top six.

Mafco coach and other technical officials declined to give the media post match interviews saying the referee played a hand in Wanderers victory.

“Don’t talk to us talk to referee otherwise if you insist to talk to us we will beat you,” one Mafco fan, dressed in military attire, told a reporter.

Wanderers have played five games in the second round collecting just four of a possible 15 points.

WHEN WILL THE TEAMS START HAVING SAME GAMES PLAYED , IS THIS HOW STUPID OUR FOOTBALL MANAGERS ARE, THEY DONT KNOW WHAT IT MEANS , ASK WHY OTHER BETTER LEAGUES MAKE SURE THAT ALL TEAMS PLAY SAME NUMBER OF GAMES, YOU TAKE ADVANTAGE OF SILENCE, YOU ARE ALL FAILURES OR YOU HAVE TEAMS IN YOUR MIND YOU ARE PUSHING FORWARD SHAME ON YOU.
