Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has slapped struggling Super League side Premier Bet Wizards with a K100 000 fine for failing to hire a CAF B coach.
FAM gave Wizards a one month ultimatum on October 4 2017 to employ a qualified coach within a period of 30- days after the team fired its head coach Trevor Kajawa but the team has failed to meet the deadline which was set for November 2.
FAM Club Licensing and Transfer Matching System Manager Casper Jangale confirmed to Nyasa Times on Tuesday about the development and that his office has sent the fine letter to the team on Monday (October 6).
“When they approached us after the firing of Kajawa we write them a letter where we put some guiding points so that they can follow
without any mistake and we directed them to make sure they hire thenew coach before the given deadline.
“So since they have failed to meet the needed requirements we have given them a fine of K100 000,” said Jangale.
But Wizards vice General Secretary Harold Dzuwa said as Wizards they are not aware about the development and they can not comment much on something which is yet to be on their desk.
“Yes we are looking for a qualified coach because FAM ordered us to do so but on the issue of K100 000 fine it’s news to me. I have not seen the letter even my fellow executive members they are not aware about this so I think it will be difficult for me to make a comment,” said Dzuwa.
However Dzuwa said it is very difficult for them to concentrate on searching for a qualified coach when they are also going through in a tough situation where they are fighting relegation battle in the league.
“We are not against the rules but to be honest time is not on our side, we are puting much concentration to the leaguecompetition so that we can survive the relegation. At least FAM could’ve just allowed us to hire the CAF B coach next season.,” said Dzuwa.
