Zambezi Challenge Cup moves to Blantyre

Zambezi Challenge Cup between Bullets FC and Zimbabwe’s top league side CAPS United has shifted to Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre from Malawi’s Capital City of Lilongwe’s Civo Stadium.

The game, which was also initially scheduled for March 3 taking advantage of the Marty’s Holiday in Malawi, has been moved to Wednesday, March 4.

Head of organising committee Kelvin Moyo said the changes were necessitated by Bullets’ March 4 engagement.

“Bullets are having a charity work on March 3 as they will go to Chikwawa to visit some of the people affected by the floods,” Moyo said.

“So it would have been difficult for them to travel to Chikwawa on Tuesday and then Lilongwe for the game. They asked for the changes. So the organising committee accepted them.”

Bullets chairperson Kond i Msungama confirmed of the changes eying Bullets had made a commitment to visit flood-hit people in Chikwawa.

“We wanted to show our human face by visiting the people who were affected by the floods,” Msungama said.

But he did not indicate whether the team would donated items or not.

Last year the Zambezi Challenge Cup involved four teams, CAPS,  Bullets, Mighty Wanderers and Silver Strikers.

The reason for changing final venue doesn’t make any sense. It only shows Zambezi challenge cup organizers are not principled and can be manipulated willy nilly.

Mr Kelvin Moyo, you not serious. When did BB make the commitment to visit Chikhwawa and when did you announce that the game will be played on 3rd March?

Did you look at their calendar of events?

If say 3rd March is Marty’s day , therefore signifies otherwise, I can easily agree with you.

The reason for moving the match to BT is not making much sense to me. The best way was to move their Chikwawa engagements to Thursday and maintain Civo as the battle ground. Let the organising committee not hide behind playing good samaritans. They just want to please Blantyre fans. Bullets is more of a BT club and they have a more fan base. Koma osanamizila ma flood victims.

Cup final ya fake. How can teams just reach a final without kicking a ball. Such nonsense can only happen in a failed state and you have people happy about this circus. Malawians are sleepy people for sure.
