Zodiak launches new TV reality show: ‘Tichezenawo Lero’

Privatel owned Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS) will from this Sunday, January 17 2016 start beaming a new reality TV show called ‘Tichezenawo Lero’ which will be produced and presented by renowned and awarding actress Flora Suya.

The new reality TV program, which be featuring local celebrities, will be aired every Sunday from 12 noon.

Speaking during the launching ceremony of the TV show in Blantyre on Thursday, Suya said the program intends to celebrate Malawian performance culture in all spheres of life and also highlighting the life of local celebrities to not only inspire Malawians but also to promote tourism thereby contributing effectively towards the country’s economy.

The awarding actress further observed that tourism is one of the economic strategic directions to make Malawi’s economy tick again, and that it can only happen with the corporate world’s support towards initiatives aimed advancing arts industry and tourism.

“In my role as an artist, I am constantly reminded about how well regarded Malawian art is when it comes to global cultural arts and the impact that Malawian arts, expressed in different forms, have around the world.

“Our track record in arts really highlights the innovative and unique nature of Malawi’s creative industries and this has significant benefits for the nation,” said Suya whose acting journey has seen her perform with Nazinkambe, Tikuferanji, and Shame Joya, among others.

According to her, the nation has great dancers, musicians, designers and high street brands (Nzika, Nazikambee, Shame Joy) that have created amazing work that have not never been featured on any local television as compared to foreign content.

“For Malawians artists and the entire arts stakeholders the time has come for us, and its an opportunity for all of you to embrace local artists because they represent what we are as Malawians.

“Taking your time to compare local content to foreign content will not help the industry, let’s all come together and help improve the arts,” she advised.

She hailed ZBS managing director Gospel Kazako for not only accepting her ideas and proposals but also for allowing the program to be aired on Zodiak TV.

Suya said Zodiak TV onlys stands to be the only TV station that could have made a great partner for its strategic position when it comes to delivering content that is local and inspirational to the national.

On his part, ZBS Assistant Commercial Manager Emmanuel Maliro also said Malawi has got great talent, but there was no proper platform through which to unearthen an advance such talent.

Maliro then challenged Malawians, especially those in create industry to always share ideas with ZBS.

“ZBS is open and flexible because we know cannot do things alone, we need input and ideas from all our viewers.

“Malawi has got great talent and ZBS is now providing the platform for such initiatives. We know the program will attract all viewers that’s why the program is categorized as family entertainment,” said Maliro, urging the corporate world to consider ‘Tichezenawo Lero’ their advertising plans.

The program will be aired every Sunday from 12 noon and they have so far made 10 episodes featuring, among others, footballer Fischer ‘Anong’ona’ Kondowe, Afro-pop musician Dan Lufani, urban artist Nepman and gospel musician Thoko Suya.
