We Malawians confuse things a lot. If we wanted an ultra modern facility then that call should have gone to the architects not the contractor. If it is a design and build contract then thus ok but I doubt if Malawi govt has adopted this method. All the talk about substandard buildings, roads, bridges, markets, stadiums, electrical and mechanical works, etc are more often a result of poor design by consultants. Contractors just implement the specifications on the drawings.
