About 100 children receive first Eucharist on Christmas: Malawi’s Ndirande Parish

About 100 children received their first Eucharist Sacrament on December 25 2012 at Ndirande Parish in the Blantyre Archdiocese and the parish priest urged them to stick to sacraments all their life.

The parish priest, Fr. Donatus told the children that they had started a new life and were now united with Christ Himself who is found in the Eucharist.

“You are now united with Christ. Remain united with God all your life. Go into Christian marriage that allows you to continue receiving Sacraments. Many today are not receiving the Eucharist because they are in unblessed marriages,” said Fr. Donatus.

The priest then turned to the congregation and challenged them to get into blessed marriages if their lives were to be meaningful before God.

The priest also asked parents of the children to lead by example to ensure that the children are not detached from Sacraments all their life.

Fr. Donatus congratulated the children for making it to the first Eucharist saying many others failed on the way.

He also appealed to Christians in the parish to avail themselves to teach “Masonkhano
children” because he said there were few teachers in the parish.
