Cholera cases in Rumphi hit 41
Health officials in Rumphi are battling with cholera, which has alarmingly affected 41 people from just four a few days ago and fear the number of patients might go up.
District Health Officer for Rumphi , Bwanalole Mwamulimwa said health personnel in the district are on the ground to contain the disease.
“The number of cases has risen sharply because some of the patients showed the signs of the disease late, this affected others,” he said.
He said the source of the disease might be unsafe water from rivers.
The DHO said the hospital is giving out disinfectant, chlorine and has upped sanitation and good hygiene civic education to the people where cholera has hit.
He was hopeful the cholera cases would be brought under control soon, saying there was no need to panic. No one has died so far from the disease.
