Perhaps it’s time to resurrect another suggestion I made 15 years ago: as party policies are all so similar, why don’t we place more emphasis on the suitability of each candidate to represent his or her constituency? First, each constituency should select the best person to represent them. After they have been selected/elected, they can then discuss what they have in common and form loose collectives or ad hoc parties. The stress will be on the individuals, not the parties, and MPs who perform well will be appropriately rewarded, while those who don’t perform adequately will be removed and replaced… Read more »

Reading through the recent articles from the writer, it is evident there is some profound hatred for Chakwera from the author. It would be helpful to establish why such changes were made rather than insinuating

I totally disagree with An Analyst, there are failed politicians who think they cannot be corrected, this is MCP with its four corner stones. We love our leaders and respect them if they contribute constructive criticisms without fear or hiding their motives. MCP will remain with obedient, royal, and disciplined leaders who want to bring strong unity in the party, unless otherwise they are no longer MCP members. O…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..O I wish some MCP dieshard could answer me . . . . . . What is it that Chakwera is trying to achieve by moving Jessie from the front to who cares where? So Chakwera and his misadvisers have already forgotten? . . . . . . when govt misbehaves, is it not Jessie’ militancy which sees her stand up and speak out proportionately? . . . when Kaliati thinks she (Kaliati) is the only lady around town blessed with a rectangular and loud mouth; is it not Jessie who proves her (Kaliati) wrong? Truth be told, although Jessie… Read more »

The Analyst, you can say that again. Jessie and Jumbe are the only true democrats in MCP. Jessie is a very tolerant and accommodative politician…remember her personal opinion over the issue of MCP’s chairmen from the central region….a true democrat, that’s what she is. It’s true that of late Mr. Kachaje seems to be losing trust in …. For Malawi to democratically grow, we need at least two equally strong political parties that can dislodge each other during elections. But MCP leadership is betraying us. Malawians want MCP’s influence to grow. But its (MCP) leadership is doing the opposite….myopic. This… Read more »
