The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) says Women Football development in the country is on the right track as more ladies are showing interest to join the game at all levels.
FAM General Secretary Suzgo Nyirenda spoke on Monday when he officially opened the first ever Fifa Women Football coaching course at the Chiwembe Technical Centre in Blantyre.
Nyirenda said the fact that the course has attracted more women coaches is an indication in the growth in popularity of the game among the ladies.
“We have had more men coaching women football but now we have a course of 30 participants 27 of whom are women. A part from that we have a lot of teams being established at all levels from primary schools at grass root level to elite clubs.
“We are also exporting players abroad as far as Europe. So as FAM we are happy that the game is making strides and we will continue supporting all women football projects to ensure we grow the game further,” said Nyirenda
The course, expected to end this Friday, is being facilitated by former England National Women Football team coach Hope Powell who urged the participants to take the course seriously.
“Please work hard in the next four days. I am excited to be in Malawi and eager to impart the knowledge that I have to you. I expect you to be open and ask as many questions as possible,” she said.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
