Matindi FM promises match ball to hat trick scorers: Malawi TNM Super League

As the 2015 TNM Super League is about to kick off, private owned Matindi FM Radio has said it will be recognizing players who will be scoring at least three goals in one game with the station’s branded Match Ball and other “valuable items”.

According to the station’s head of sports, Williams Gondwa, who was also voted “2014 TNM Top Commentator”, the initiative is aimed at adding more value and excitement to the game of football in the country.

Gondwa said their sports desk — comprising Sam Banda, Kimu Kamau and Hannah Chikombole, among others— would like to see players having viable opportunities to play soccer at the high level and that the match balls will inspire them perform at their best.

“Elsewhere, man of match, and a scorer of at least three goals in one game are recognized after the game. And we need to be doing the same here in appreciation of their scoring antics.

“We are very certain that match balls will not only add value and excitement but also inspire and help our players, mainly strikers perform at their best,” said Gondwa.

The 2014 Top Commentator also disclosed that the station has procured more “state of the art” gadgets to enhance their scope of work in as far as live football commentary is concerned.

Gondwa claimed that with new gadgets, the station will be able to provide listeners with live updates from other football grounds.

“We will be able to cross over to other venues hosting TNM games to have live updates, mainly state of affairs in those games. Our sport desk has got people on the ground and ready to do the work,” said Gondwa, who also took trouble to condemn hooliganism and violence, which he said, put the game of football in disrepute.

According to him, Matindi FM also exists to entertain and inform by providing listener-tailored programs targeting the entire population and their vision is to the leading broadcasting station in Malawi and beyond.

He therefore said they will always strive to advance listeners’ interests by tackling crucial issues affecting their social, economic and political life.

“Many thanks should go to the corporate world, mainly TNM, Cash Build, Galani MW1 Grand & Grill Bar, Williams Tea for their unwavering support to us; we have reached this far because of their support,” said Gondwa, noting that more sponsors have shown interest ahead of 2015 TNM Super League kickoff.

Man of the match is better than scorer of hat trick. This means,in the present scenario, strikers only will be rewarded. What about the goal keeper.Football is a team sport and Matindi need to think this through.
