Seek God first
It is God’s desire that we should experience His blessings in all areas of our lives. The word of God tells us that in order for us to prosper we must put the Lord first in our lives. “But seek you first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33). God is asking us to make the things of God as a priority over the things of the world. Salvation that is inherent in the kingdom of God is the number one thing that should be sought and it is of greater value than all the world’s riches. This is the condition for God’s blessings and the only guarantee of God’s provision.
Deuteronomy 8:18 tells us that; “But you shall remember the Lord your God: For it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore unto your fathers, as it is this day”. This means that God’s interest must be ahead of our interest and all that we need will be provided. If we fail to remember God in what we do then it will be so hard for us to receive His blessings.
There are many promises that God promises those who live a life of obedience and righteousness. “And you shall seek me, and find me, when you shall search for me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13). This glorious promise is given to any and to all, and for all time. God does not only promise Blessings, but He actually say that the blessings shall come on you and overtake you. This means that the blessings will be so abundant that they will literally chase down the people of God. The condition to all these promises still remains the same, seeking God first.
If you consider now that we have all these promises but majority of the people are still struggling, then we need to know that something is wrong here. Even talking about Malawi as a nation, the country is in a very sad situation.
God sent famines upon Israel as a judgment because of spiritual declension. If you look at the beginning of the book of Ruth, you will find that there was a famine in the land which God brought about because of their disobedience. Despite all that famine, the people never sought to seek the Face of God but instead decided to go in deep sin by going to live in other countries that worshipped idols there by going in deep sin.
It is the same with us now because there are so many things that God is not happy with which requires us to seek God for forgiveness. God is always looking for yielding vessels, those that will seek Him with an honest heart for the sake of His Kingdom. Remember that when God was about to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, He was willing to spare these two cities if only ten people that were seeking His face could be found. It is sad to know that even ten people could not be found so that these cities could be spared. “Call upon me and I will answer you; and show you great and mighty things, which you know not” (Jeremiah 33:3).
Let us be people who understands the importance of seeking god than just “give me, give me people”. God is interested in developing a relationship with you, not you just calling on Him when you are in trouble.

You are welcome Mr Zagwa, just for your information I have indeed explored the Bible & and the Quran quite extensively than you can imagine. I have read the Bible twice from Genesis to revelation & the Quran once. All I can share with you for now is that these two books have caused more misery to humans than any other book ever known to man and what interests me most is the fact that the so called God who according to these two books must have been the source of the information within them, just stand by & watches… Read more »
Muheziwa, I like your reasoning and belief. It’s is good that at least you acknowledge that God exists as a creation of man in mans mind. This is a good starting point. Please continue to explore and understand what the God that man ‘imagines’ is all about, I am sure you have nothing to lose. Wishing you all the best.

The journey of the Israelites to the promised land was a good news to the Hebrews. But on there way they had to meet people who misled the Israelites to worship the the golden calf. There also arose 8 people who came with a false report when Moses sent them to spy the land & only 2 people (Joshua & Caleb) came with a true report. There also arose Achan a greedy, selfish, a thief who wanted to gather only for himself & his family while the promise of God was that all will to enter the land full of… Read more »

Cindy, you would be surprised to know that it is man who created God in his mind, God does not exist. Just look around you to see the suffering around the world, which good God would allow people to suffer like that if he indeed has the power to do something about it?
