Super League of Malawi (Sulom) General Secretary Williams Banda has confirmed that his association will intervene and act as a mediator to end leadership wrangles that have engulfed the Mighty Be Forward Wanderers family.
There have been disagreements between the team Executive Committee and a section of some supporters who now claim to have dissolved the club executive committee chaired by George Chamangwana as well as the main supporters committee.
They claim to have appointed Chipiliro Mpinganjira to lead the new executive committee.
The development comes as a result of the Nomads recent poor form.
But Banda on Tuesday advised teams to always learn to give room for contact and dialogue.
He therefore promised that his association will bring together the disgruntled Mighty Be Forward supporters and executive committee as soon as possible to map the way forward.
According to Banda, the matter is being treated as urgent to ensure that they should not aggravate the situation at Nomads which he said can further affect the perfomance of the team.
Meanwhile, one of Wanderers supporters who was tipped to lead the Nomads supporters family in the Central Region , Matthews Kimu Kamau has rejected his appointment describing it as illegal.
“Much as I appreciate the confidence shown in me by Nomads supporters who believe I have the abilities to assist the team by holding such an important position, I feel the appointment is inappropriate and illegal” Kimu Kamau said in a statement.
He therefore pleaded with all supporters to wait for team’s annual general meeting slated for March 2016 to elect new office bearers.
“The current executive committee was legally elected and must be voted out legally as well,” said Kim Kamau.
According to Kamau, the executive committee led by Chamangwana has done a great job by among other things landing a lucrative sponsorship deal from Be Forward Company.
He therefore warned that internal wrangles might cost the team sponsorship the way it previously happened with Malawi Telecommunications Limited (MTL).
“I am afraid that such quarrels within Wanderers family are giving the sponsors very bad publicity which may compromise the relationship. We should remember that the team lost sponsorship from MTL some five years ago partly due to the same in-house wrangles” warned Kimu Kamau.
Sponsors, Japanese car dealers, Be Forward have said they are “monitoring the situation” at the Lali Lubani Road.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
