United Democratic Front (UDF) has sternly warned the party’s vice president Iqbal Omar that he risks unspecified action if he continues what the party says making parallel structures within UDF.
Spoeksman of UDF, Ken Ndanga said this at a nws conference he held in Lilongwe along with other senior party officials.
“The party will follow laid down procedures to deal with him if he continues to form parallel structures. He thought he would never be expelled from the party, he thought he was bigger than the party,” said Ndanga.
However, Omar has said as far as he is concerned, he is still the party president, saying the party did not follow procedures to fire him.
“I am not leaving the party. I am challenging their decision…” said the unfazed Omar.
The party has since taken him to court to stop him from using party symbols and materials since he is no longer party member.
Ndanga said those who wanted to cause confusion in the party have been severely weakened politically and warned this might spell a political end for the once Bakili Muluzi trusted senior party officials.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
