Mutharika begs for more time to develop Malawi ‘beyond recognition’: Says it took 15 years for Kagame to improve Rwanda
President Peter Mutharika has asked Malawians to be patient with him, saying it took 15 years for Rwanda President to put his country where it is now.

”In two years time, Malawi will not be where it is today and by the time I leave office in 2024, Malawi will be developed beyond recognition,” he said.
He was speaking on Friday in Karonga when he visited people hit by floods.
He said all development projects in the north would be undertaken, saying the Livingstonia-Njakwa road construction will start soon.
Mutharika told Malawians to ignore the opposition saying they have nothing to offer Malawians.
He said the opposition were bent at confusing Malawians, saying most of political parties are now closing shop.
“They should just come and join us, we should just be one party although I don’t like one party system, good bye orange,” said Mutharika mocking the third largest political party in Parliament, the Peoples Party.
He said he came to power because of the will of Malawians and the will of God and urged Malawians to walk with him until they reach the promised land.
He then officially opened the Karonga-Chitipa road renamed to Bingu Highway.
