Commissioner for Elections Jean Mathanga confirmed the by0elections would be held in September at a date to be decided upon.

Director of Elections in the main opposition, Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Maxwell Thyolera said his party was suspicious that the government decided to force all directors at MEC on forced leave just days before the elections were to be held.

He said the MCP national executive committee would discuss this matter.

I think Magetsi you are now threatening that is typical DPP. That is why DPP will not win the elections because you guys you are killers and Malawians are tyred of hearing your nonsense. So you wanted these people to accept the release of Money for BM to hell. Don’t threat anyone and don’t mention parties it is DPP governing this country up to 2019 and will leave this office peacefully. MCP is getting back its glory on 20 May 2019.

The communication from this commissioner sounds very unproffessional. One might think that the reason for this unplanned by-election is to bring chaos similar to the one of 14/5/2014. So far, we had 2 postponments as far as this by-election is concerned and no convincing reasons were given. Is this part of civil service reform? Please let us be serious in everything we do and be proud of ourselves. This is September and you want to hold by election within this month and you don’t have a planned date. Are we serious? Zamasanje zenizeni.
