‘I’m a Nomad’ Kabichi makes u-turn, not joining BB

A day after the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) ruled that Flames dangerous raider Henry ‘Magetsi’ Kabichi is free to play for Big Bullets on loan from Blackpool having dumped Mighty Wanderers, the players has declared his love for Wanderers after his an astonishing u-turn, Nyasa Times can reveal.
In an exclusive interview with Nyasa Times, Kabichi said that that he had made a u-turn on his plans to join the ‘People’s team’.
“Yes, it is true that l is now backing at Wanderers,” said the former Blackpool star, who has been training with the Nomads the whole of last week.
Kabichi, who is one of the promising midfielders in the country, said that his heart was with the Nomads.
“If l was a Bullets player, then l could have been in Lilongwe with the team,” he said.
Big Bullets were in the capital city where they won 1-0 against Silver Strikers on Saturday before losing to Epac United on Sunday.
The Nomads vice-general secretary Richard Kambalame confirmed with Nyasa Times that Kabichi has been training with the blues.
Kambalame said everything concerning the player’s return at Lali-Lubani Road was in the process.
“He is back with us. We have forgiven him because the player is well disciplined,” said Kambalame.
He went on to state the player was a Nomad because Super League of Malawi (Sulom) dully cleared him to them at the price of K750, 000 (about $4,500) which Blackpool -relegated to Southern Region Football League – refused to collect the amount.
“You can also have in mind that we gave Kabichi K400, 000 ($ 2 631) as a signing on fee. If Bullets insists that they want the player, then they should get prepared to agree with us on the price, otherwise Kabichi belongs to us,” said Kambalame.
However, Blackpool’s owner Ben Sawanga, who is also Big Bullets general secretary, quashed Nomads sentiments.
“This issue is closed because FAM made it clear that procedures were not followed. Kabichi automatically returned to Blackpool and he has been loaned to Bullets,” said Sawanga.
Recently, Sulom, its affiliates and the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) agreed that with effect from next season it will be mandatory that teams should have written contracts with their players.
