Malawi hikes parks entry fees
Malawi’s Department of National Parks and Wildlife Reserves has announced increases in national park entry fees.
Although there has been a rise, they still remain extremely low and among the cheapest on the continent, at just US$10 a day for foreign visitors.
“Fees for entry of each person per day for person above 12 years of age: Fee per visitor per day for Malawian Citizen is K450, Resident foreigner US$7, Non-resident foreigner US$10. All below age of 12 years the charge is NIL,” the department says.
The department says vehicleentry fees is US$5 per vehicle per day.
Malawi is blessed with a rich diversity of flora and fauna and has no less than nine National Parks or Wildlife Reserves.
There’s an ever increasing number of animals offering excellent game viewing experiences whilst the number of lodges in parks remains low.
This ensures protection of each area and brilliant exclusivity for visitors compared with the high prices charged for similar parks in neighbouring countries.
