Every year just as Christian, Muslims celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammad. However, it changes every year because the Islamic calendar is lunar.

The Prophet’s birthday – known as Eid MIlad ul-Nabi – falls on the 12th or 17th day of the Islamic month of Rabi’ al-awwal.

In Lilongwe, Manzoor Bheda, Chair Board of Trustees Lilongwe Sunni Foundation, said  Muslims apart from celebrating Muhammad’s birth also prayed for good rains for this year.

In  northern city of Mzuzu, hundreds of Muslims  lined the streets as the Muslim community celebrated   their spiritual leader’s anniversary.

In Blantyre. Apostle Timothy Khoviwa a religious aide  of President Peter Mutharika and Mayor of the City  Noel Chalamanda were amongst people who took part in the Ziyara parade.

Prophet Muhammad’s birthday is marked in many ways in different Muslim nations.
