Thindwa on trials at Mamelodi Sundowns
Malawian striker Ishmael Thindwa is undergoing trials at South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Epac United towering striker is expected to spend two weeks with the Premier Soccer League log leaders.
Thindwa is leading the scoring charts in the flagship TNM Super League with 18 goals.
His knack for goals impressed national team coach Kinnah Phiri who gave him the national team call up during the Cecafa Senior Challenge cup in Tanzania.
Sundowns technical director Trott Moloto says the player has started his trials.
He however remained mum on the prospects of signing Thindwa as the club has exhausted its foreign quota.
Under South Africa football regulations, a PSL club can register five foreigners.
Sundowns already have Mozambican Elias Pelembe, Nigerian Solomon Okpako, Zimbabweans Nyasha Mushekwi, Method Mwanjali and Simba Sithole while Ugandan Denis Onyango has attained permanent resident status and is registered as South African.
