Malawi Police arrest 22 DPP Cadets for serious assault on cops
Malawi Police on Friday arrested 22 Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Youth Cadets for allegedly beating up and seriously injuring two police officers on duty at Tsangano Road Block in Ntcheu.

National Spokesperson for Malawi Police Service James Kadadzera confirmed the arrest.
It is alleged that the cadets picked up a quarrel with the officers for uttering offensive and abusive words on the law enforcers.
They were travelling to Parliament Building in Lilongwe where their party leader and Malawi President Peter Mutharika officially opened the 46th session of parliament and 2017/18 budget meeting.
Kadadzera said the arrests were made in Lilongwe and all the suspects were later released on police bail on the same day.
According to the National Police Publicist, the arrested cadets have been charged with an act that may cause grievance harm.
Apparently the ruling party gurus were demanding for their unconditional release and that charges should be dropped.
