Sangie launches Painless album in Lilongwe Friday

She made headlines three years ago with Ndagonzizidwa and I Do It for Love singles, and in no time she won hearts of many with her silky and soul-touching reggae-dancehall voice. It was palpable she was next big- as far as female artists are concerned- to happen to Malawi.  And the world came to know her, she is Sangie.

Over the years, Sangie born Angel Mbekeani has perfected her trade with several international performances and hit singles, and bagged her first award in 2015 at Urban Music Party (UMP) Awards as Best New Artist.

With several collaborations on the cover- just to cement her position in the male dominated industry- Sangie has gained grounds in her music pursuit and is considered as one of top-notch artists in the country- setting a trend on a path that many have failed to walk.   It will not be of surprise that on Friday evening she is launching her debut album Painless under Real Frenz Entertainment after working on it for almost two years.

The launch, all set for Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe is expected to feature Lulu, Zathu Band and gospel artist Patience Namadingo among other acts.

“It’s an all live performance night,” declared Sangie in an interview with Nyasa Times.

“I will be backed by my band ‘The Dhynamics’ which I have been working with for almost three years now.”

Sangie promises fireworks during the launch which will just catapult her reputation further as one of best stage performers as the audience is set to be treated to Mayi Wangwiro, Mbola (Fake Love), Here With You and Busyamong other songs from the much anticipated album.

“It’s a night of music. People should expect quite a lot. It will be fun. Apart from Patience Namadingo and Lulu, there will be lots of surprise acts,” she added.

After Lilongwe plans are underway to take the album launch across the country therefore her fans in Blantyre, Zomba and Mzuzu should not feel left out, she pledges.

Painless has been produced under Real Frenz Entertainment with renowned producer Dj Sley of Chit chat Records) and Sispence of Matrix records adding their immense input to the album.

The new music defines the ordinary Malawian woman’s day to day life. Just as Mayi Wangwiro, the album’s storyline revolves around the womanhood.

“Painless is all about empowering women.  For ages woman have struggled to be recognized in a male dominated society; we have been complaining about not being respected or supported, looked down upon…It’s high time we stand up and support our fellow women. Let’s not just wait for men to do things for us,” explained Sangie.

As an Itel brand ambassador, Sangie is expected to surprise the audience with different stuff from Itel including smart-phones.

Sangie is Ndirande-bred singer, who recently became a Lilongwe resident. Very talented with mature lyrical content, Sangie started music while very young and is a qualified vocal trainer.
